2010 Geocaching Event Rules
The Mississippi River Parkway Commission (MRPC) Summer 2010 Geocaching Event begins July 1, 2010 at 12:01am Central Standard Time (CST) and ends December 31, 2010 at 11:59pm (CST). Registration: To participate in the 2010 Geocaching Event, you must have an account or create an account on geocaching.com . Having an account on geocaching.com allows you to access the coordinates necessary for finding caches.
Cache Log Form: Use the special 2010 Geocaching Event Cache Log Form to record your geocaching handle (the name you use when posting on geocaching.com), each cache you found and the date you found it. Prize Drawing Entry Eligibility: To be eligible to enter the Prize Drawing, participants must find at least 10 total caches, including two caches from Great River Road Interpretive Centers. These two Interpretive Center caches must be from two different states. (If there is no cache at the Interpretive Center, you may submit a picture of yourself at an Interpretive Center in that state or other proof that you visited it). If you meet these minimum requirements and submit your qualifying Cache Log Form by December 31, 2010, your name will be entered into the drawing one time for each state in which you found a cache, for a maximum of 10 entries. For example, if you find 10 caches in five different states, you will be entered five times. If you find 10 caches in 10 different states, you’ll be entered the maximum 10 times. All caches must be found between August 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. You must be 18 years or older to enter. Ethical Geocaching: Geocachers who damage, vandalize or move caches, or otherwise treat any cache in an unsportsmanlike manner will be disqualified. The goal behind the 2010 Geocaching Event is to promote geocaching in the 10 states along the Mississippi River and to promote the appreciation of the historical, cultural, natural and recreational opportunities that the region has to offer. Right to Change Rules: The MRPC and the organizers of this event reserve the right to change the rules at any time. Prize Description: From the list of eligible entrants, ten (10) winners will be selected to win one (1) of ten (10) prize packages, each with a minimum value of at least $100. Each prize package will include an overnight stay in one of the ten Mississippi River States and an assortment of products from that state. All prize packages are subject to restrictions and expiration dates will be indicated—no refunds or substitutions will be made. Near the bottom of the Cache Log Form, there is a place where participants with qualifying Cache Log Forms can choose to be entered into the drawing for prize packages from the northernmost states or the southernmost states or both drawings. There will be no ties. Only ten (10) prize packages will be awarded. Event Deadline: To be eligible for entry into the Prize Drawing, the MRPC must receive qualifying Cache Log Form by December 31, 2010. The Cache Log Form must be mailed to: Mississippi River Parkway Commission National Office, 222 State Street Suite 400, Madison, WI 53703 or faxed to 608-242-8896. No hand deliveries will be accepted. For more information on the sport of geocaching, visit the online headquarters for the worldwide community of geocachers, www.geocaching.com.
