The Travel Beyond the River section takes you off the beaten path of the River to explore the entirety of the states: (north to south) Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. One River. In the Travel Along the River section, you'll find yourself directly along the banks of the mighty Mississippi herself, where a journey on the historic Great River Road Scenic Byway awaits. | One of my favorite memories of the river is the day my Mom, Dad, sister and I spent time working at a river clean up in Hastings, Minn. As a little kid, I remember being amazed at all the stuff we pulled out of the water that day - even a big wooden door. It was a warm, sunny day and the bridge crossing the river was very pretty. Hope we made a small difference! |
