Mississippi River Fun Facts
Great River RoadThe Great River Road was established in 1938 as the national parkway of the Mississippi River. Follow the green Pilot's Wheel road signs that mark its route nearly 3,000 miles through 10 states.
The charming town of Hannibal, Missouri, is home to author Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) and the "unsinkable" Molly Brown. Clemens' boyhood home is now a museum open to the public.

If I could live in the Mississippi River Valley during any period in history, it would definitely be the majestic steamboat era. I would love to dress in hoop skirts and live in a lovely Antebellum plantation home.
