| At the upper end of Riverside Park in Cassville, Wisconsin, is the connecting point for the Cassville Car Ferry. This unique and unusual method to cross River between Wisconsin and Iowa has served these communities since 1836 when Wisconsin's first Govorner. Nelson Dewey, relished in the scenic beauty of the River and wrote in his diaries his excitement of crossing the river by ferry. In later years, he purchased 173 acres of land on the riverbank in Iowa "so the ferry would always have a landing place on the other side." |
