Mississippi River Fun Facts
Great River RoadThe Great River Road was established in 1938 as the national parkway of the Mississippi River. Follow the green Pilot's Wheel road signs that mark its route nearly 3,000 miles through 10 states.
Crowley's Ridge in eastern Arkansas is one of the great geologic oddities of the world, and the Delta's only "highlands." The only other similar land form is found in Siberia.
Favorite Places Along the River
The view of Winona, Minnesota from Garvin Heights Park is superb. There are lots of other great parks in and around the town, too, for hiking, canoeing, and picnicking!
