  The Travel Guide To Interpretive Sites of the Great River Road is a full-color guide to exciting stops along the Mississippi’s Great River Road. In it, you will find descriptions and contact information for the best state parks, historical centers, museums, and other sites along the Great River Road. It is a handy companion for your next River Road tour. Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery. International requests may take longer. There is no charge for this guide except on orders of two or more. Mississippi River Fun Facts
Great River RoadThe Great River Road was established in 1938 as the national parkway of the Mississippi River. Follow the green Pilot's Wheel road signs that mark its route nearly 3,000 miles through 10 states.
The historic lumber town of Grand Rapids, Minnesota is also home to actress Judy Garland. Her childhood home is open to the public.
Favorite Places Along the River
At the upper end of Riverside Park in Cassville, Wisconsin, is the connecting point for the Cassville Car Ferry. This unique and unusual method to cross River between Wisconsin and Iowa has served these communities since 1836 when Wisconsin's first Govorner. Nelson Dewey, relished in the scenic beauty of the River and wrote in his diaries his excitement of crossing the river by ferry. In later years, he purchased 173 acres of land on the riverbank in Iowa "so the ferry would always have a landing place on the other side."
